Book donations
We aim to increase book ownership because research shows that developing good reading habits in childhood requires access to a wide variety of books that are interesting and engaging to the reader. The habit of reading in childhood is associated with improved academic, social and emotional outcomes.(OECD, 2021; Torppa et al., 2020).
We collect good condition pre-loved books, and give them away to be enjoyed by children at every opportunity we get. In 2025 we gave away approximately 3000 books at Children’s Day, our Story Trail launches, school engagement events and through our pop-up library. In 2026 we have pledged to give away 10,000 books to mark our tenth anniversary.
We also have an Amazon wishlist, where books can be purchased for us to gift on, or to add to our lending libraries. Click on “Our Amazon Wishlist” button.
These are suggested amounts only, and are to give an idea of the costs we incur in providing the support that we do. We are grateful for any amount that you can give.
